Bioderma Sébium Collection Review

Bioderma Sébium Collection Review

For oily, blemished skin

50% of adult women suffer from acne, which is why Bioderma has an entire collection dedicated to those with blemished prone skin. Bioderma Sébium features a patented Fluidactiv® complex that acts directly on sebum to quickly cleanse, treat and maintain future breakouts. Although I don’t have oily skin, which most people with acne have, I do battle with breakouts on a daily basis. You may remember my review on the Bioderma Sébium Global Intensive Purifying Care, but today it’s all about cleansing the skin, so hopefully I won’t need that treatment anymore.

Bioderma Sébium Foaming Gel is a gentle cleansing and purifying gel that helps prevent breakouts and blemishes at the cleansing stage. It’s enriched with purifying agents, zinc sulfate and copper sulphate that help to purify the skin and limit sebaceous secretion.

Bioderma Sébium Foaming Gel comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a secure pump for easy application. It has an incredibly lightweight consistency that is slightly blue in colour that does an amazing job at gently, yet thoroughly removing pretty much all traces of dirt, oil and makeup. It does take some rubbing to come to a decent lather and foam up, but it washes clean away without leaving a greasy or oily residue, nor does it leave the skin feeling tight, dry or irritated. Although I don’t really buy into the claims of it affecting oil production, I do believe it helps control it. Since it’s such a gentle formula, it helps balance the skin, which in return, helps oil control.

Bioderma Sébium Foaming Gel surprisingly works fairly well on my incredibly dry skin, although I think it is best suited for those with oily to combo skin. It did an excellent job at cleansing my skin without stripping it of its natural oil, leaving it feeling tight or dry afterwards, but it didn’t have the hydration I’m looking for in a daily cleanser. It did however keep my skin glowing, not shiny, just a radiant glow for the entire day, which is always nice. It retails for $19.95 for 200ml.

You know I’m obsessed with my Bioderma Sensibio H2O Solution Micellaire Water, well Bioderma has a micellaire water for those with oily to combination skin. Bioderma Sébium H2O Micellaire Water is the first specific make-up removing micellar water designed for those with acne prone skin. It too is enriched with purifying agents, zinc gluconate and copper sulphate to help mimic the natural composition of the skin for perfect make-up removal.

Bioderma Sébium H2O Micellaire Water is pretty much the same as my Sensibio H2O Solution without the moisturizing benefits. It still removes all traces of dirt, oil and makeup without a greasy or oily residue, but keeps those pesky breakouts at bay. Simply soak a cotton pad with this lightweight, ultra-mild formula and cleanse and remove makeup from the face and eyes. It’s a non-rinse remover that doesn’t sting or irritate the eyes. It also doesn’t leave behind a nasty film or sticky residue and it helps to soothe and decongest the skin. It also helps to soothe skin, leaving it soft, refreshed and super clean. It retails for $19.95 for 250ml.

Bioderma Sébium Pore Refiner helps to tighten dilated pores and helps improve overall skin texture. It’s formulated with agaric acid, a powerful astringent that helps to tighten pores and refine skin texture overtime.

Bioderma Sébium Pore Refiner has an incredibly silky, yet not greasy, lotion-like texture that feels completely weightless once applied and blended in. It absorbs almost immediately and sets to powdery matte finish that helps minimize the appearance of enlarged pores. It has a small amount of salicylic acid that will help exfoliate the skin and unclog pores.

I’ve said it over and over again, but once pores are enlarged, they cannot be closed again, therefore I don’t buy into the claim of Bioderma Sébium Pore Refiner actually reducing the size of your pores. It does, however, do a wonderful job at absorbing excess oil throughout the day, which is perfect for those with oily to combination skin. I found it to be way too mattifying for my dry skin, so I had to stop using it. In the short time that I was using it, it did seem to help control future blemishes. This could also go hand in hand with the Foaming Gel though? It retails for $29.95 for 30ml.
