Keeping up with this fashion blog isn’t as easy as it looks. My days aren’t spent twirling in tutus, drinking champagne or playing with makeup, instead hours are spent coming up with that perfect blog post, answering endless emails and trying to come up with unique content for my readers. The trickiest part, outfit shooting. I sometimes come up with the perfect outfit, it’s warm and slightly cloudy out, making it the perfect day for a photoshoot and then I’m left without my Instagram husband aka Derek. Yes, an Instagram husband is a real thing, whether you’re a blogger or just a girl looking for that perfect shot, I’m sure you’ve used your partner to capture that perfect photo or two. Think of him as your own personal human selfie stick.
Derek wanted to share some insight into his life as an Instagram husband. First things first, forget about those days when you actually ate your food while it was hot, now its spent trying to get that perfect angle to showcase your food to the world. Looking at a brick wall as just a part of the building, a gross, smelly alley or train tracks are no longer just places you drive passed, you must pull over immediately to capture a ootd. Think that you’ll actually be in a photo is a thing of the past, its all about her (and only her). Just be sure to bring your A-game at all times, keep an eye out for fast moving vehicles, close approaching cliffs or a crowd full of people, although one would think she would notice her surroundings, surprisingly, she won’t. Be prepared to pull over on a drop of a hat to capture that last ray of sunlight or incredible view and spend the next 20 minutes, not enjoying the view, but trying to capture the perfect lightening. Finally, always carry her equipment and remember to capture her most flattering angle (higher is always better). There you have it, the perfect Instagram husband.
