They say you spend a third of your life in your bedroom, yet it’s always the last room you decorate. This is totally the case for me. We built our house 8 years ago, and although I’ve re-furnished it several times, I’ve never been quite happy with it. Now that my loft, living room and family room is revamped and transformed, I thought it was time to focus on the master bedroom. I always start with the bedding and base my colour scheme around it. Since I usually change up minor décor to fit the seasons, I knew I wanted something fresh, crisp, summery (and slightly girly) for my comforter. I also knew I wanted something lightweight and breathable, which is why I switched out my duvet for a comforter.
After browsing several online stores, I absolutely fell in love with Maple Harbour. A Canadian based, yahoo, luxury bedding company that offers a large selection of bed linens and textiles. Not only do they offer free shipping, it comes with a 100% money back guarantee and a portion of each sale that’s made, they donate to an animal shelter. Being an amazing animal lover myself and the fact that I had no obligation to keep it, if I was unhappy with it, had me sold.
After spending quite a bit of time browsing Maple Harbour’s site, I came across the Goldfinch 9-Piece Comforter Set. Nothing screams summer like florals. I’ve seen designer prints like this one go for hundreds of dollars, but never did I see it come with a comforter, bed skirt, a fitted sheet, 2 pillowcases, 2 pillow shames and 2 decorative pillows. This gorgeous pattern comes with all my favourite colours, white, pink, green and berry, along with a feminine design (sorry Derek) and is made out of the softest cotton I’ve ever felt, 300 thread count to be exact.
I still have some work to do on the bedroom, but it’s coming along. A few more pieces of art for the one large wall, maybe a rug, some new curtains and it will finally be the bedroom I’ve always dreamed of….. until next season that is.
