We all have those products that sit in our drawers waiting to be used, months go by and we finally use them and then wonder why we waited so long. This is the case with Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation, I’ve been sitting on it since the summer, but it wasn’t until this week that I actually got the chance to use it. These were part of Maybelline’s 2013 Fall lineup with 12 oil-free shades, from a pale ivory to a warm chocolate shade that promise to blend into the skin for a natural matte finish and instantly dissolve excess oil for a shine-free look.
Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Foundation comes in a chubby plastic, retractable, swivel up tube with a clear cap to see the coloured shade within. It has a gel like formula and features an anti-shine core, to help mattify the skin and keep it shine-free throughout the day. It’s surrounded by a lightweight foundation that goes on creamy and smooth, blends easily and gives an overall matte powder finish to the skin. It doesn’t adhere to any dry spots, doesn’t feel oily and isn’t drying at all. It provides a light sheer wash of colour, that’s very buildable, up to a light to medium coverage. If you experience any blemishes, redness or scaring, you’re probably going to want to follow up with a concealer. It will wear for about 5 to 6 hours before fading and oxidising.
Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Foundation instantly goes from a cream to a light powder as soon as it’s applied and does an excellent job at evening out my skin tone and concealing minor redness. I love the smooth and soft formula that’s very lightweight and breathable on the skin. It seems to just glide across my skin like butter and provides a semi-matte finish that remains shine free for up to 5 hours. After the 5 hours, I did experience a little fading, but since it’s so easy to use, and small enough to fit in my purse, I didn’t mind having to touch it up mid-day. If it had a little more coverage, I would have been more in love with it. It retails for $10.99 for 9g.
