Sephora Collection Jem and The Holograms Collection Review

If you were around in the 80’s then you’d definitely remember Jem, a pop princess with bright pink hair. A live action film hit theatres last month and was sure to bring back some wonderful memories of this cult classic, 80’s cartoon series. Hasbro has partnered with Sephora for a limited edition Sephora Collection Jem and The Holograms Collection and was inspired by the live-action movie with a nod to the cartoon show. This outrageous collection is filled with makeup and accessories that allow you to always be true to yourself, a message that is as strong today, as it was 30+ years ago. It features 4 limited edition pieces, an eyeshadow palette, a liquid lip colour set, 80’s inspired florescent lipstick and a branded compact mirror.

Truly Outrageous Eyeshadow Palette will allow you to create bold makeup looks, accessorize in style and achieve a JEM-inspired look thanks to its vibrant and bold colours that represent the movie. It features 24 vibrant shades in an array of matte, shimmer, and glitter finishes.

Truly Outrageous Eyeshadow Palette comes in a glittery black and pink compact, with the Sephora and Jem logo on the bottom left and opens up almost the same way a wedding invitation would. It features a full-size mirror on the inside lid with 24 shadows within. The shadows are named after different aspects of the movie and arranged in columns to represent each member of the band to help you achieve each inspired look effortlessly. Although you’d expect each shade to be extremely bold, bright and with pops of neon, the fact of the matter is, that most of the shades are actually quite subtle and wearable. The majority of the shades are buttery and creamy, although a few of the mattes are quite stiff and dry. Each shade is fairy pigmented and most are truly opaque in a swipe or two. There is a bit of fallout on some of the shades and they do require blending to achieve a seamless finish, but once applied, they stay put the entire day without fading or creasing. It retails for $49.

Truly Outrageous Liquid Lip Set is a five piece liquid lipstick set that comes packaged in a glittery, vibrant, hot pink tray. The transparent tubes are embossed with a holographic lightning bolt and feature a doe-foot applicator for easy application. It has a rich and creamy, highly pigmented formula that sets and dries fairly quickly for all day hold. It’s truly opaque and provides full coverage in a single swipe, although it’s buildable to a stronger colour payoff, if desired. It glides on easily and smoothly and once set, it doesn’t budge or smudge throughout the day. It’s comfortable to wear without feeling heavy or looking cakey or drying.

Truly Outrageous Liquid Lip in Like A Dream is a stunning rosy nude with a matte finish, to the Rescue is a beautiful berry, almost wine shade with a matte finish, Music Is Magic is an extremely bold and vibrant neon pink with a matte finish, She’s Got The Power is a rich and deep eggplant with a slight shimmer and finally, Fashion And Fame is an iridescent, glittery topcoat. Set retails for $31.

Truly Outrageous Lipstick is a rich and creamy, extremely bright, bold pink that’s reminiscent of the iconic 80’s pop look. It comes in a hot pink plastic tube with an embossed holographic lightning bolt like the Liquid Lipstick Set. Its velvety formula glides onto the lips with ease and is completely opaque in a single swipe or two. Its comfortable to wear the entire day, feels somewhat moisturizing and sets to a fairly semi- matte hot pink. It does, however, have a slight sheen to it, which makes it more wearable and easy to wear. It retails for $20.

Truly Outrageous Compact Mirror is a flashy dual compact that’s perfect for makeup application and quick touch-ups on the go. It’s the perfect travel size mirror and if you’re a fan of Jem, this will be an excellent keepsake. It retails for $23.
