Sony A5100 Mirrorless Camera with 1650mm Zoom Lens Review

Performance of a DSLR, with half the size and weight

Photography has always been a passion of mine, but these past few years, thanks to the wonderful world of blogging, I’ve really been stepping up my game and trying to improve. As much as I love my Nikon D5100, it’s not the most practical camera to bring to events, outings and my everyday life. Sometimes I’m looking for a simple point and shoot camera, that’s small and compact (to be able to fit in my purse), but with the same great benefits, options and photo quality I would get from my DSLR. Introducing the Sony A5100 Mirrorless Camera w/1650mm Zoom Lens. It comes with everything you need to start taking professional pictures instantly. The box includes the camera body, 16-50 mm OSS lens, charger, battery, shoulder strap, body cap and micro USB cable. All you need to pick up is your memory card.Sony A5100 Mirrorless Camera with 1650mm Zoom Lens Review (1)

I would have to say the best feature, and the number one reason why I love this camera so much, besides the fact that it takes amazing photos, is the built-in Wi-Fi. I’m obsessed with Instagram and the iPhone camera doesn’t capture the detail I look for in a good quality photo. With the Sony A5100 Mirrorless Camera w/1650mm Zoom Lens, I can quickly and easily upload my photos straight to my phone and then to Instagram within seconds. I don’t even need to edit my photos or apply filters, as the camera already makes my photos look professional and beautiful. I get a ton of questions on how I get my Instagram photos to look so crisp, clear and bright, and it’s because I never have to use my Iphone camera. For you selfie queens out there, you’re going to love the touch screen. This LCD screen flips up, tilts at a 180 degrees, showing your pretty face and allowing for the perfect angle. You can then tap the screen, watch as it counts down from 3, before snapping the perfect picture. Plenty of time to get your duck face, kissing or smiling face on.Sony A5100 Mirrorless Camera with 1650mm Zoom Lens Review (2) Sony A5100 Mirrorless Camera with 1650mm Zoom Lens Review (3) Sony A5100 Mirrorless Camera with 1650mm Zoom Lens Review (4)

I often go to events where the lighting isn’t so great and I’m constantly flipping back and forth in the manual setting mode, trying to find the perfect aperture, ISO and shutter speed. With this camera, you can switch up all these settings in manual mode and instantly see what your picture is going to look like on the screen, before actually snapping the photo. No more taking several pictures trying to capture the perfect lighting. It also has a high ISO range, all the way up to 25600 allowing you to bring in as much light as you want/ need. The built-in flash is also pretty unique, it’s hidden when you don’t need it and pops up when you need more light/ the flash. The one thing I hate about point and shoot cameras is how long it actually takes to auto-focus and snap the photo. The moment has already passed and you’re still waiting for the camera to take its picture. Sony unique design combines three key components, lens, image sensor and image process engine, to work together, complementing and enhancing one another for photos and movies that are truly beautiful. It snaps into focus in less than 0.07 of a second. That’s actually faster than my DSLR. You can also set it to take multiple pictures at the same time, perfect for sporting events, runway shows or playing children. I usually just keep mine camera set at 3, even when taking still photos, cause it’s just nice to have different photos to pick from. Something I have yet to experiment with is the movie option. It records full HD 1080/24/60P video3 up to 50MB which is perfect for all you movie buffs looking to capture your own memories. Hopefully I get the chance to play with this option on my next vacation, maybe a little vlogging?Sony A5100 Mirrorless Camera w1650mm Zoom Lens (12) Sony A5100 Mirrorless Camera w1650mm Zoom Lens (13)

The Sony A5100 Mirrorless Camera w/1650mm Zoom Lens would be an excellent choice for those looking for the photo quality of a DSLR camera, but in an easier to use, smaller and lighter body and with a much lower price tag. Another few features worth mentioning is that it comes with 24.3 megapixel, meaning you’ll be able to blow up any photo to life size, without it becoming blurry or grainy and a zoom lever that easily allows you to zoom in on even the smallest of items with full detail. Another small feature, but something I absolutely love, is the battery life icon. It actually tells you how much percent left you have in your battery without having to guess when your battery is going to die. I still have a lot more experimenting to do with this camera, but so far I’m in love. It is lightweight, has an interchangeable lens, has excellent image quality and with a ton of features that will take my photography to an entirely different level.
