Poolside Parties
Urban Decay may be well-known for their cult fave, the Naked collection, but this season the brand was inspired by late-night poolside parties, rooftop hangouts at sunset, bright bikinis and neon shades. The new Urban Decay Summer Nights Collection for Summer 2015 is full of bright and intense colours, flushed cheeks and bright lips. It’s just the right playful makeup that will have you hot for summer. It offers new blushes, eyeshadows, lipglosses and new eyeshadow primers in bright, vibrant pink, ravishing sunset orange, electrifying purples and sexy reds. If you’re looking for bold, edgy and fun colours with a ton of textures, high performance formulas that can take the heat this summer, UD has you covered.
Urban Decay Afterglow Blush is a foolproof way to create sexy, radiant, lit-from within glow this summer in a few quick swipes. It’s infused with light-diffusing pigments to enhance and perfect the skin for a natural, luminous glow.
Urban Decay Afterglow Blush comes in the most gorgeous shiny gunmetal effect compact that is lightweight, yet sturdy and secure with a magnetic closure. The detail that makes them truly unique is the fishnet design on the front where you can see the blush within, thanks to its UD cut-out on the outside lid. It has a tremendously lightweight, luxurious, soft and creamy texture that has the perfect balance of coated powders and pigments that apply beautifully to the cheeks. It’s finely milled formula goes on sheer, but is buildable to provide a stronger, more opaque coverage without becoming chalky or powdery. It has an array of both matte finishes and others with a hint of shimmer. Each shade glides on effortlessly and blends wonderfully into the skin for a seamless finish. It stays put, without fading for a solid 8+ hours.
Urban Decay Afterglow Blushes are now my favourite blushes to date. They are perfectly pigmented, apply like a dream, thanks to their silky, smooth consistency, and blend and buff into the skin beautifully. They’re highly buildable to a semi-opaque to almost full coverage in a few single swipes. Although they claim to have a matte finish, I actually find them to have a satin-matte finish, that’s not overly shimmery, but adds a somewhat luminosity to them, that’s absolutely stunning. The shimmery shades are extremely subtle, no chunky glitter. All 4 shades that I own wore for more than 8 hours, I could easily apply in the morning and still have strong colour payoff well into the evening. It comes in 12 new shades and retails for $31.
Urban Decay Afterglow Blush in Bang is an extremely, intensely bright red orange. I was a little scared at this shade at first, for fear of looking like I was in a high school musical, but its surprisingly quite beautiful once applied to the cheeks.
Urban Decay Afterglow Blush in Obsessed is one blush that I’m totally “obsessed” with. It’s a light, cool pink that offers a fresh and bright pop of colour to the cheeks with a healthy, radiant glow.
Urban Decay Afterglow Blush in Fetish is a medium pinky nude that would make the perfect every day blush and go with pretty much any makeup look you create that day.
Urban Decay Afterglow Blush in Rapture is a rich, deep mauve with just a hint of shimmer. Depending on which way the light hits, it provides a subtle glow that adds real warmth and depth to the cheeks.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow features a new Pigment Infusion System formula that contains a unique blend of ingredients to allow the colour to weave itself through the eyeshadow formula to provide insane colour payoff that stays put. It comes in 8 new shades, from colours to neutrals with two different finishes, 6 of which are duo-chrome and the other two are completely matte.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow packaging is just as unique as the blush and was inspired by the NYC subway tokens. It too is done in a gorgeous gunmetal compact that allows you to see the shade within or you can pop them out to build your own personal palette. It has an incredibly soft, almost cream-like texture that’s smooth and easy to apply. It’s pigmented and buildable, taking you from a sheer transparent coverage to a fully opaque finish in a few swipes of the brush. It’s rich, dense and true colour stays put throughout the day without shifting.
I love that the Urban Decay Eyeshadows come ready to be de-potted with no messy melting, annoying magnets to stick on the back or fear of breaking the shadow. This is perfect for us gals that like to collect shadows and build our own unique palette. I love the array of shades and that the fun, vibrant duotones are done in bold pops of colours, whereas the matte shades are nude and extremely versatile. The velvety, almost suede like texture is a dream to work with and blends into other shades wonderfully. If you’re looking to get full day wear out of the duo-chrome shade, I suggest paring it with a primer as they tend to fade quicker than the mattes. When worn with a primer, I had no problem getting 10+ hours without fading, budging or creasing. It comes in 8 new shades and retails for $22.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Backfire is a burgundy with purple shift. It’s muted, deep purple has a subtle cooler purple overtone that gives it a unique duo-chrome finish.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Tonic is a lilac with blue shift and the perfect shade for summer. It’s extremely bright, with almost a pale lavender, almost pinkish tone, with an iridescent sheen to it.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Fireball is a peach with a pink shift and is the strongest duo-chrome shadow out of the bunch I own. It has a yellow gold base that turns into a beautiful peachy pink with a metallic finish depending on the way the light catches your eye.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Beware is a warm medium brown with a matte finish.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Riff is a brown nude with hint of floating micro- sparkle and a matte finish.
Urban Decay Revolution High Color Lip Gloss is a high-coverage, ultra-pigmented gloss that plays down all the colour you crave in a single coat. It features a Pigment Infusion System that gives it its super creamy, irresistible finish that stays put. It’s also formulated with Hilurlip that helps to define and hydrate, giving the appearance of fuller, plumper lips. It’s insanely pigmented and provides a badass shine finish.
Urban Decay Revolution High Color Lip Gloss comes in a flat, pocket-friendly case with gorgeous facets and a highly metallized gunmetal cap. The product is encased in a clear lipgloss tube, so you’re visibly able to see the shade within. It also comes in a match cardboard box that’s colour coordinated to the lipgloss within. It features a plush silicone paddle shaped applicator that helps control the amount of product that’s applied to the lips. It lays down the perfect amount of gloss in just one coat. It has a lightweight, slightly thin texture that’s creamy and applies smoothly. It provides intense coverage and colour in a single swipe. It’s not sticky or goopy, yet moisturized and hydrated, even without a lip balm. It’s completely tasteless, but there is a slight sweet vanilla hint to it. The wear time is around 4 hours.
I love that Urban Decay Revolution High Color Lip Gloss comes in both cream and sparkly finishes in an array of basic nudes, bold brights and rich, deep shades. The creams are incredibly.. creamy and the sparkly shades are comfortable to wear because it’s formulated without glitter. It’s unique and innovated formula feels amazing on my lips, unlike any other lipgloss I own. I love that also it gives the appearance of fuller lips, without that annoying stinging or tingling feeling. Its unique applicator allows me to precisely outline my lips, when I’m too lazy to apply a lipliner and really helps define and shape my lips. It’s comfortable to wear the entire day thanks to its almost gel-like texture. Depending on the shade, some are sheerer than others and may require a few swipes of the brush to become truly opaque. It has a subtle tackiness to it that only helps prolong the wear time. These are some of the longest wearing lipglosses I own, at least 4 to 5 hours, even with eating and drinking. Although it does smell quite sweet in the packaging, it goes undetected once applied to the lips. It comes in 14 new shades and retails for $26.
