I love pink!
I feel like I get pretty personal on my Instagram stories, but for those that don’t follow me there, might not know that much about me…besides the fact I love pink. I thought it would be fun to start sharing things you may or may not know about me on this blog? My first “real” job, outside of babysitting, was KFC. I was actually underage when I started, not even legal to work, and I ended up working there for over 5 years. Out of all the jobs I’ve had, it still is my favourite. Sure it wasn’t the most glamorous, but it taught me responsibility, self-worth and the true meaning of a hard-earned dollar. I finally had the freedom to go wherever I wanted and buy whatever I wanted, without the help of my mom. I made some amazing friends and had endless laughs. From water-fights in the back, when the manager wasn’t looking, to creating the perfect hangover cure (deep frying bread and putting poutine cheese curds on it), I made memories that will last a lifetime.
I went through a new genre of music for every year that I was in high school. In grade 9, I was really into alternative rock. So much that I bought the same silver pants that Billy Corgan rocked from the Smashing Pumpkins. In grade 10, I hit my rap, r&b and hip-hop phase. I thought Puff Daddy, Mase, Big Pun, Jay-Z, DMX, BIG, Snoop were the coolest and it was all I’d listened to. By grade 11, I was really feeling Reggae. I couldn’t get enough of Shaggy, Sean Paul, Beenie Man, Me. Vegas, Fugees (Lauryn Hill and Wyclef). The last year of high school was all about the boy bands (sadly enough), okay and Britney and Christina too. I used to love going to concerts, and by the end of high school, I probably had seen over 40 of my fave bands/ artists.
I can usually fall asleep within 5 minutes. No matter how awake I am, no matter where I am, if you give me permission to sleep, I can usually fall asleep within no time. Derek and I are those people that have a TV in our bedroom, and we tend to watch at least one show before we actually go to sleep, but 9/10 times,I fall asleep before the show is over. If I do make it till the end, as soon as I turn over, it’s lights out.
I’m not a fan of my first tattoo. It was one of those things, I was in my early 20’s, and I really wanted a tattoo. I didn’t spend too much time thinking about it, nor did I really plan on the placement of it. I knew I wanted something girly and somewhere that could be hidden if I didn’t want to show it off (thank goodness for this). I also didn’t research the tattoo artist, so I ended up with someone that wasn’t so talented. I ended up getting a fairy on my lower back (hello the tramp stamp of the early 2000’s) and although it’s kinda cute, I’m just happy no one ever has to see it.
Finally, I’ve had the chickenpox. I was 8 years old, it was Christmas morning, and I can still remember every itch. My dad, being the worry wart he is, rushed me to the hospital (even though my entire family told him it was just the poxs). I didn’t have the chance to open any of my gifts from Santa, and upon arrival home, my cousins thought it would be a good idea to hide all my gifts on me. For some reason, my parents went along with this (good parenting) and for the entire day, I thought I was a bad girl all year and that’s why I got the chickenpox and no presents. After dinner my cousins brought out my gifts and I was finally able to play with my toys.
