Now that Halloween is only a few days away, it means that Christmas is just around the corner. Not only is it the most magical time of the year, spent with loved ones, delicious food and yummy cocktails, the limited edition makeup collections are always spot on. Dior Holiday is the number one collection I get most excited for, and this season is no exception. Always a good mixture of luxe gold, followed with a little holiday red, in rich, bold and dramatic formulas and shade selections. This season, Peter Philips has created a precious collection for the modern-day heroine. A soft, nuanced, secret luxury that celebrates the steely glint of noble metal in variations of golds. It’s partnered with iconic Dior greys, contrasted with delicate sheer ivories and paired with platinum and timeless reds and fuchsias. It also has a beautiful mix of deep purples, coppers and luminous greyish greens. These modern day neutral shades mix seamlessly with the more intense shades for an urban yet sophisticated look. Eyes are drenched in iridescent and metallic finishes, lips are kept extremely moisturized in vibrant pops of red and pinks, while the nails complete the entire look with a little sparkle and glitter.
The star of the Dior holiday collection is always the 5 Couleurs Palette and this season these 2 new State of Gold Eyeshadow Palettes are definitely in the spotlight. It comes in a beautiful sleek and black compact with a mesmerizing chevron motif design, embossed into each shadow. It has a rich, creamy, velvety smooth texture that applies seamlessly. It’s based around the gold center shade, which effortlessly allows you to create endless looks and can easily take you from day to night. Each shade is extremely buildable for stronger colour payoff and has an excellent mix of shimmer, satin and matte finishes. It has little to no fall out, stays put on the lid the entire day, when paired with a good primer, doesn’t crease, smudge or fade. The darker shades are, of course, a little more pigmented than the lighter shades, but all shades can be built up to provide true, opaque coverage in a few strokes. Each retails for $70.
Dior 5 Couleurs State of Gold Eyeshadow Palette in Eternal Gold features shades of greyish green, copper, ivory, purple and a sparkly black. The first shade is a light grey with a cool undertone with a khaki greenish shimmery finish, second shade is a pale peach with almost a coppery shimmery finish, centre shade is a stunning duo chrome gold and ivory with a shimmer finish, fourth shade is a deep purple taupe with a shimmer finish and the fifth shade is a gunmetal, blackish grey with a glittery finish.
Dior 5 Couleurs State of Gold Eyeshadow Palette in Blazing Gold features shades of metallic red, baby pink, beigey nude, purplish brown and shimmer grey. The first shade is a bold claret red with a metallic finish, second shade is a soft baby pink with a shimmer finish, center shade is a peachy, almost champagne nude with a shimmer finish, fourth shade is a cool mocha, almost chestnut brown with a shimmer finish and fifth shade is a charcoal grey with silver and black micro glitter.
Dior Diorshow Fusion Mono in Blazing features a mousse-gel like texture with an luminous metal-like finish. It comes with a sponge applicator for precise and easy application and it’s extremely lightweight, creamy formula applies seamlessly to the lid. Its pink-tinged Amber shades feature pearlescent pigments that gives the illusion of fireworks in a shimmering gossamer veil depending on the way the light hits the skin. It gives dimension to any eye look your achieving this holiday season with an intense illuminating glow. You can create a soft, subtle highlight to a bold, radiant glimmer depending on how much product you apply. Not only will this shade look amazing as an inner corner highlight, it will look stunning paired over any of the shadows found in the 5 Couleurs State of Gold Eyeshadow Palettes. Since it is a fairly sheer, shimmery shadow, it does tend to fade quicker than your typical shadow, but nothing that can’t be easily touched up throughout the day. It retails for $36.
Diorific Matte Lipstick comes in a gold, vintage-looking tube with a brand new never powdery, velvety smooth, long-lasting formula. It features three nourishing oils that packs a ton of moisture for all day hydration. Although it’s quite sheer to begin with, it is extremely buildable. You can easily boost up the intensity to a fairly opaque, full coverage finish in as little as 4 to 5 swipes. It feels incredibly comfortable the entire day thanks to its weightless, non-drying formula. It’s not completely matte, it provides more of a subtle luminosity that’s elegant, wearable and modern. It retails for $45 in 4 new shades, Radieuse, Fascinante, Fabuleuse and Fantastique.
Diorific Matte Lipstick in Fantastique is an extremely bright pink, Fabuleuse is an extremely bright true red, Radieuse is a soft rosy, yet almost peachy nude and Fascinante is bold, yet every day rose.
Diorific Vernis comes in an ultra-glamorous, round retro bottle that is reminiscing of a Christmas ornament. The polish will instantly transform your nails into manicured jewels with subtle shine and shimmering glitter. Each shade is easy to apply thanks to its perfectly rounded brush and it’s perfectly consistency formula. The texture isn’t too thick or thin, you can effortlessly achieve true colour payoff thanks to its richly pigmented formula. It’s fairly opaque after only 2 coats and dries within seconds to a natural shine. It retails for $33 in 4 new shades, Mystere, Passion, State of Gold and Gris-Or.
Diorific Nail Vernis in Passion is a fiery red with a slight jelly-like finish, Gris-Or is a truly innovated shade that changes depending on the way the light catches your nail, anything from an amber to platinum, to yellow or pink gold and has an almost pearly and metallic finish, Mystere is an intensely rich and deep plum with a cream finish and State of Gold is a gold and silver glittery polish that can either be worn on its own by applying a few coats, or act as an accent topper. Sadly I don’ t have a swatch of this shade, cause although I do own it, it didn’t come with a brush…. oops.
I’ve said it over and over again, but Dior Addict Lip Gloss are some of my favourite lipglosses out there, not only because of their short brush tip that allows for easy application, but because of its lightweight texture. Not only does it feel incredibly comfortable on the lips, it’s slightly moisturizing without feeling sticky or goopy. Its silky smooth, ultra-shimmery formula provides a sheer wash of colour and looks amazing paired over your favourite lipstick. Although it only wears for a few hours, it provides just the right amount of sparkle and shine without looking too over the top or dramatic. It comes in 2 new shades, Cygne Noir and Sparkle and retails for $34 each.
Dior Addict Lip Gloss in Cygne Noir is a claret red that gives a modern day twist on a classic festive fave and Sparkle is a metallic shimmer that looks beautiful paired over any nude lip this season.
