Fashion Mistakes
As a blogger, I’m pretty aware of current fashion styles and trends. Although I always “try” to look put together, there are days when I make fashion errors. There are certain fashion mistakes we all make, maybe not all at the same time, but have probably done them at one point or another. Of course, these are just my personal opinions and you may not agree with them, but that’s the beauty of fashion, we all have our unique style. I say rock what you feel most comfortable and confident in, but these may be “mistakes” you’re making and not even aware of it.
First up, wearing the wrong size footwear. I often see ladies rocking the wrong size shoe or heel, which not only looks sloppy, but can actually make you walk differently. I hear a lot of women saying they don’t know how to walk in heels, but those are often the same women that purchase a half size too big and their heel keeps slipping out of the shoe. I know a lot of us go shoe shopping after work, where we’ve spent hours already on our feet, or on the weekends when we’ve been cruising the mall all afternoon. This is the worst time to purchase a new pair of shoes, as your feet tend to be swollen, and you may end up purchasing a half or full size too big to compensate for that.
Next up, over accessorizing. Wearing too much jewellery can be distracting and take away from your outfit. You don’t need to wear every single piece of jewellery at the same time. You also don’t have to have something in your ears, a necklace around your neck, a ring on every finger and bracelets up your entire arm to look fashionable. There are certain pieces that look amazing layered together, but when you’re wearing statement pieces, let those be the star of the show.
If you’re a pet owner, you know exactly what I’m talking about, but having pet hair on your clothes is a huge no-no. I know it may seem like it’s impossible to control the fur, and no matter how many times you vacuum the house, or how many times you brush your fur baby, there always seems to be fur all over your clothes. Pay close attention to dark clothing items, as those darker hues not only seem to attract the fur, it’s more noticeable. Take the extra few seconds and roll a lint-roller over your entire look before leaving the house.
Diaper bottom must be my biggest pet peeve. I know jean shopping is a nightmare for a lot of women, but having a saggy butt is unacceptable. I know a lot of people love that relaxed, worn-in, boyfriend style jeans, and that’s perfectly okay, as those styles are meant to be more loose fitting, but I’m talking about when you get a regular or skinny pair of jeans. A personal tip, is to go down a size when you’re trying them on in the dressing room. You must remember, the jeans are going to be at their tightest when you first buy them, but after a few wears and washes, they will begin to stretch out and relaxing, leaving you with a saggy bottom.
The last thing that annoys me in the world of fashion is, dirty shoes. I know it’s next to impossible to keep them completely clean and looking as fresh as the day you bought them, but I also think people just forget to clean them. Just like you wash your shirts, dresses and pants, it’s also important to wash your shoes, after all, they get the dirtiest and see the most action. You wouldn’t walk around in a muddy dress, so why is it acceptable for your footwear?
