Battle of the breakouts
I’ve talked about it endless amounts of time on the blog, so I won’t go into too much detail, but I’m constantly fighting breakouts. Whether it be from hormones, age, or the constant switching between different brands for my skin care and makeup products, either way, it’s an ongoing battle. Whenever I hear about a new blemish treatment, I get pretty excited to try it, in hopes it will end my war against blemishes.
The new Avon Clearskin Blemish Clearing Overnight Treatment claims to help treat and prevent blemishes while you sleep. It’s formulated with 2% salicylic acid and is safe enough to use nightly as either a spot treatment or an all over face mask to help prevent future breakouts. It will also help to calm redness and fade the look of acne marks without drying the skin out.
Avon Clearskin Blemish Clearing Overnight Treatment comes in a squeeze tube with fine, pointed nozzle for easy application. I love that I can control how much product I need, depending on the day. It has a gel-like texture that spreads easily and smoothly onto the skin. Only the smallest amount is needed to cover the entire face. Its thin consistency absorbs within a few short minutes without feeling sticky, greasy or oily. Although not intended to be an exfoliator, salicylic acid helps promote healthy cell turnover, along with clearing away dead cells that may clog pores, which in return, cause breakouts. It helps to control excess oil and normalize excess oil production without being irritating on the skin. It does give a slight tingling sensation if you have any current breakouts, but at the same time, it provides a slight cooling effect.
Let me start off by saying, I don’t think anything will really help fade the appearance of acne scars and dark spots, beside light therapy or medical grade facials, but the Avon Clearskin Blemish Clearing Overnight Treatment did work beautifully as a blemish treatment. Because of the salicylic acid, it’s extremely important for those like myself, to keep your skin highly moisturized at all times. I’ve actually been mixing it in with my nightly moisturizer, as I found its oily texture hard to apply my moisturizer overtop, without it slipping and sliding all over my face. When paired together it spread and absorbed wonderfully.
Within a few short weeks, I started to see a difference. This might have to do with the fact that I’m finally on the right skin care routine or the fact that I’ve had two chemical peels in the past 6 weeks, either way, my skin is thanking me. If you’re suffering from breakouts, you have nothing to lose with the new Avon Clearskin Blemish Clearing Overnight Treatment as its only $7.99 for 50ml (available next month).
