Romantic Makeup Look
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Essence has released, which could possibly be the cutest packaging ever, the new Essence Like An Unforgettable Kiss Collection. This romantic collection features soft, pastel shades of pink, blues, purples and teals for a minimalist look that doesn’t look too overdone.
Essence Like An Unforgettable Kiss Eyeshadows come housed in the Essence standard plastic container, so you’re able to see the shade within and a dome shaped flip lid. It’s embossed with different romantic shapes, depending on the shade selection; anything from heart-shaped locks to stamped hearts and kissing lips. Come on, could these be any cuter? Like all Essence eyeshadows these 3 new shades aren’t the most pigmented of shadows, but are fairly buildable to achieve a slightly more opaque finish. It does take some building up, but I actually found these to provide fuller coverage than other Essence shadows. They do have a very soft, smooth texture, but can get a little powdery and chalky if you’re not careful. Be sure to tap excess off the brush before applying. You may experience a little fall out, so it’s best to start with your eye look before foundation. These are perfect for those no-makeup kind of days or when you’re looking for a soft and subtle wash of colours on the eyes. They retail for $2.99 in a beautiful mint, lavender and baby blue with a pearl finish.
Essence Like An Unforgettable Kiss Blush Duo comes in a sweet heart shaped cardboard box (much like the Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush) with a duo blush and highlight within. Like the eyeshadow, it has somewhat of a chalky texture that can be a challenge to work with, but isn’t impossible. I found the pigmentation of the blush to be a lot more opaque than the eyeshadows, but the highlighter shades are pretty sheer. I was able to build up the colour on my cheeks with a few swipes of the brush and it sat well, without fading for the entire day. It doesn’t look powdery on the skin, nor does it emphasize pores which is a huge bonus. The two shades complement each other beautifully, just wish the highlighter shade was a bit more opaque. The bright pink adds a nice subtle pop of colour to the cheeks, but the yellowish highlighter is almost invisible. The coral adds a nice subtle warm glow to the cheeks, but again, where is the highlight? It retails for $3.99.
The Essence Like An Unforgettable Kiss Brush has to be the showstopper in the collection for me, I mean, come on, just look at it. For only $3.99 it’s a steal. The combination of both purple and pink synthetic fibers is an eye-catcher on its own, but the irresistible heart shape design within the brush is too cute for words. It’s the perfect shape and size for picking up enough colour, it applys smoothly and blends the product into the skin almost effortlessly. It’s incredibly soft and ultra plush, but it does tend to lose a little hair during application process.
Essence Like An Unforgettable Kiss Lip Smoother comes in a squeeze tube with a slanted tip applicator for easy application. It has a gel-like consistency that applies fairly easy to the lips. At first I thought it wasn’t sticky at all, but within about 5 minutes, it becomes somewhat tacky. It gives a gorgeous, clear, high glossy, shiny finish with a subtle shimmer throughout. It lasts about an hour before wanting to reapply. It looks beautiful over your favourite lipstick for a hint of sparkle. It also has a sweet, fruity scent that fades with a few minutes. It retails for $1.99.
Thank you for the review! My local store doesn’t carry testers for these so I was worried I wouldn’t like them. Will be getting the pink blush duo now! <3

ooh happy I could help. I really think all the stores need to have testers, so hard to tell in the packaging. People always end up opening them anyways, and no one wants to buy them after. So silly, have testers please hehe
