This spring, a lot of fun prints, patterns, textures and fabrics have been popping up into stores. One of my all-time favourite prints is gingham, so I’m happy to see it making a comeback. This checkered pattern is extremely similar to plaid, which I’m a huge fan of, so obviously I love it too. Although Derek says it reminds him of a picnic blanket or an old-man button-down shirt, I can’t get enough of it.
Get creative with this pattern and think outside the box. Instead of pairing it with the traditional neutral palette, try to mix it up with other fun prints. Today I kept it simple and super comfy with a pink and black gingham skirt and black skinny jeans. A leather jacket can be placed overtop to keep me warm on chilly evenings.
For a fresh, chic and summery look, this gingham shirt will look amazing paired with crisp white jeans or white shorts. It will create a slightly preppy, yet girly, effect to an otherwise casual look.
For a more sporty and edgy vibe, I can pair this gingham shirt with an army green sleeveless vest or jacket for a unique twist.
I think for my next look, I’m going bold and mixing this gingham shirt with another bold print or pattern. Keeping with the same colour scheme, but I’m thinking animal print or stripes?
