Artist Shadow
After watching Fifth Shades of Grey and falling in love with Anastasia’s flawless and super natural complexion, I couldn’t wait to experiment with the new and limited edition Make Up For Ever Desire Me Cheeky Blush Trio. The set includes three shades of Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow Blush, along with a Travel Size Make Up For Ever Precision Brush, How to Get the Look Guide, and a keepsake pouch with key and dogtag. The only thing I wish they would have done differently was, have a limited edition packaging on the palette. It just comes with the traditional palette that you’d get when purchasing any of the Artist Shadows and come a year from now, you won’t even remember it was part of the Fifth Shade of Grey Collection. No biggie, just thought it would be fun to have limited edition packaging.
Make Up For Ever Desire Me Cheeky Blush Trio comes with shades I-526, a beautiful pearl beige that’s perfect for highlighting and has almost a pinky iridescent to it. I-808 an English pink, almost a berry shade and is the faintest in the trio. S-748 is a gorgeous peachy coral that provides the most pigment and boldest colour payoff. Although they may seem rich and creamy to the touch and you would think they would give off a lot of colour, they’re actually quite sheer. On the plus side, even though they are a little drier, they’re not powdery at all and have absolutely no fallout. The mini precision brush is actually pretty darn amazing for applying colour to both the apple of the cheek and on the cheekbone. The angle brush with synthetic fibers perfectly pack on just the right amount of product for a natural look.
I’m usually a huge fan of the Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows, but I actually found all three of these shades to be quite dense and had a hard time picking up the colour with my brush. After swirling it around a few times, it does finally pick up the product and apply beautifully and effortlessly to the cheeks. At first glance, in the palette, the shades look quite vibrant and bold, but they are actually fairly sheer. Although the pigmentation isn’t as opaque as other MUFA shadows, you can easily build up the colour for a bolder, more dramatic effect. The shades do give an extremely natural, radiant glow, as each shade is quite shimmery, without having large chunks of glitter in them. I do wish there was at least one matte, to give you more options, but this is still a fun palette and allows you to create several dewy looks. Once applied, these shades aren’t going anywhere. I had no problem with them staying put all day and night, we’re talking 12+ hours, without fading. Overall, I do enjoy this collection, just wish it was a little more pigmented. When I’m looking for a soft, romantic effect, this is an excellent palette and I do believe you can easily capture Anastasia’s extremely natural look wonderfully with this set. It retails for $56, but comes with a $128 value.
