Breaking the rules
I’m breaking all the rules today and wearing white after Labor Day. I’m pretty sure this rule is a thing of the past. I know where the “so call rule” came from and how it was based around the labor movement, but I’ve always thought it to be somewhat silly and rude. Iit was common for the wealthy to spend their summers abroad and light coloured clothing would help combat the heat and distinguished them from the “average” worker, who couldn’t afford such expensive clothing. When they returned at the end of the summer, they would put their white linens away and dress more weather appropriate, which is where this silly rule came from. Winter white is now a huge trend, found all over the runways these past few years. I’m a firm believer that a classic white blazer is a wardrobe staple and can be worn 12 months out of the year. It’s a bit spicier than your traditional black blazer and a total outfit changer. Pair it with a simple tee, or in my case, a hot pink lace top and a ripped pair of jeans and you’re all set. This is a quick and easy September transitional piece that can take you from summer straight into fall.
