5 Inexpensive Ways to Celebrate Galentine’s Day With Your Besties
With February 14th just around the corner, rather than an anti-Valentine’s Day, why not celebrate your friendship with your girlfriends? Whether you’re single, or happily taken, you can always use a day to celebrate friendship. February 13th is the perfect day to gather your gal pals together and celebrate the bond between you. Just like V-Day, Galentine’s Day doesn’t have to be over-the-top or expensive. Spending quality time with friends should be enough. If you are looking to host your girlies, here are a few inexpensive ways to bring your babes together.
Host a Karaoke Party
What better way to kick off Galentine’s Day than belting out a few of your fave tunes. Where my single ladies a? Of course, you could invest in a karaoke machine, but you can also download a karaoke subscription, like Karaoke Cloud Player, for under the cost of a CD. Although it’s totally possible to sing acoustic, most guests will prefer to use a microphone, again, you can find cheap ones on Amazon. Before the big day, set up a general playlist to keep the party vibes going without any interruptions. Also invite your friends to send in special requests before the party. You can also set up teams for playful competitions, complete with point-scoring and even a judging system. You can pick up inexpensive prizes at the dollar store for the winner(s).
Galentine’s Day Bake-off
Although I’m a disaster in the kitchen, that doesn’t mean I don’t like a sweet treat or two. You can either provide blank cookies/ cupcakes and have your friends decorate them or get each guest to bring raw ingredients and see who can get the most creative. Either way, this will provide hours of fun, and the best part, all the snacks afterwards. Again, you can award prizes to the most creative, the pretties, the most delicious, the most unique, the best flavouring, etc.
Wine Tasting Soiree
If Galentine’s Day isn’t the perfect opportunity to sip on some rosé with your besties, then I don’t know when is? Any excuse to host a wine tasting event in your home, is okay with me. It’s super simple, set out a charcuterie board, maybe a few sweet treats and a few bottles of your fave wine. Another option is to have each guest bring their fave bottle of red, white, rosé, etc. and judge it based on taste, presentation like the prettiest bottle or packaging, most flavourful. You can have fun mixing and matching your wines to the h’ordeuvres.
Host a Spa Day
We all love getting pampered, but fancy spas can be expensive and overcrowded on Galentine’s Day. Treat your guests to a day of luxury, from the comfort of your own home. It’s not as expensive as you think. You can pick up a few bottles of nail polishes, a sheet mask for each of your friends, maybe a few bowls to have warm saltwater in for hand soaking, and even some flower petals to help soften the hands. You can easily create a DIY scrub and butter station. Have a playlist of soft ocean sounds or instrumental music playing in the background, lemon water or even fresh smoothies on hand, along with some candles burning to help set the mood for an ultra-relaxing day.
Host a Clothing Swap
A clothing swap is an excellent way to scratch your shopping itch, without having to spend your hard earned cash. Ask your friends to bring gently worn clothing, shoes and accessories to swap with other girlfriends. When your guests arrive, hand them a ticket for items them bring, which in return can be exchanged for another item of clothing. Having a few freestanding clothing racks, a small table (to put jewellery, purses, scarves on), along with a private area where the ladies can change is all you need. It also helps to have a full length mirror so the girls can see what their new pieces look like on. At the end of the day, you can even have a fun fashion show where the girls can model their new pieces.
