Most Instagram Worthy Places in Hamilton, Ontario
I know that the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word Hamilton, is their beautiful waterfalls, but the city has so much more to offer than just nature. Although Hamilton, Ontario has over 100 waterfalls, there’s so much more to see and do. Today, I’m sharing my top favourite instagrammable places in Hamilton, Ontario.
Although Motel Hamilton is fairly new, opening its door in the summer of 2017, it has quickly become a hot-spot for locals and out-of-towners. This extremely instagrammable restaurant is my new favourite spot for brunch. Its Palm Spring inspired décor, paired with its delicious food and drink menu, leaves you dreaming of the California sun. Its pastel pink walls, palm tree leaves, “No Tell Motel” lightbox, gold chandelier, and retro accessories, transforms this into a weekend oasis. Be sure to try one of their many cocktails, for only $12 a glass, before diving into their extensive menu options. Not only is the food yummy and delicious, it’s designed and created to be a warm addition to your Instagram feed. Located at 359 Barton Street East, Hamilton.
If you’re looking for a sweet treat after lunch, take a few steps down from Motel Hamilton and visit Hello Baked. This high-end, gourmet confectionary boutique specializes in hand-crafted sugar cookies, that, you guessed it… are super instagrammable. Pastry designer, Jessica Lee, takes pride in her creations and no detail goes unnoticed. Before even walking into the sugar shop, you’ll be welcomed by a pink, grey and white mural on the wall that just screams…photograph me. The shop also offers a wide variety of candy, macarons, and even giftware. Its located at 342 Barton Street East, Hamilton.
I’m a sucker for biscotti with my coffee, but no matter how many coffeehouses I’ve been to, and no matter how many biscotti’s I’ve tried over the years, none compare to Hotti Biscotti. This adorable all pink gourmet biscotti shop is made in house and all done by hand daily. If you’re looking for soft-textured biscotti in an array of innovated and unique flavours, this is the place to be. Grab yourself a coffee, pick out your fave flavours (I highly suggest the Birthday Cake one) and people watch on their patio under a pink awning. It’s located at 142 James Street North, Hamilton.
You know I couldn’t talk about Hamilton without mentioning the falls. I’ve been to more than 20 of them, too many to showcase here, so I picked my favourite; Tiffany Falls. It’s one of the easiest to get to, not too much walking/hiking and it’s hardly ever busy. This 21 metre-high ribbon waterfall is located in the Tiffany Falls Conservation Area, just off of Wilson Street East, Ancaster.
Although not in Hamilton, I had to mention two bakeries that are totally worth the short 20-minute drive to Burlington for. First up, Sunshine Donuts. From the sunshine mural wall, to its larger-than-life donut in the sky piece, to its retro vibes inside, everything about this bakery screams Instagram. Instantly satisfy your sweet tooth with a huge, almost over-size donut. Made fresh every day, the donuts are super soft, fresh and full of unique flavours. The selection is constantly changing, so no matter how often you visit, you’ll always have the chance to try something new. It’s located at 439 Brock Ave, Burlington.
Another bakery to visit is Kelly’s Bake Shoppe. All items are gluten-free, dairy-free, peanut-free, and vegan… but full of flavour and taste. From mouth-watering donuts, to fancy cupcakes, to delicious sweets, each dessert is better than the next. Be sure to snap a photo out front, or the side of the building or even inside, to fill your Instagram will pink, sweets and joy. It’s located at 401 Brant St, Burlington.
