Lisa here from ARTDECO and I’m here to bring you the latest Fall trends and the hottest makeup looks of the season.

It’s finally fall, which means time to bring those beautiful items like leather, cashmere and wool to the front of your closet again.

But, what about your makeup case? What summertime favourites get tossed to the bottom of your bag, and what fall makeup trends are you excited to try on for size?

Although changing your makeup routine and replacing your favourite coral lip gloss might be as welcome as a visit to the dentist, it’ll be well worth the visit, as it’s all about having fun with makeup on runways.

This season, grey monochrome outfits and black and white colour blocking plays second fiddle, letting the bold blues, berries and mauves found in makeup trends stand out and make a huge comeback.

I’ve pulled a few of my seasonal favourites from ARTDECO’s new Fashion Colors Collection arsenal to help me re-create two of the hottest {and my favourite} fall makeup trends, and broke down how to incorporate them into your everyday regiment.

The NEW Smoky Eye

A beauty classic reincarnated. Try navy or purple eyeshadow instead of the typical charcoal to bring this look from evening wear to daytime wearable. Plus, the colour change option from traditional dark grey shadows, makes this look much more office appropriate and less harsh on fairer skin tones. When planning the perfect lip shade to accompany this look, aim for a neutral pout (i.e. Perfect Color “Rosy Starling” no. 41) so as not to compete with the stronger eye, especially when at the office.

1. Start by applying Eyeshadow Base to ensure your eye makeup stays put and vibrant longer.

2. Extend your lashes with a liner (i.e. ARTDECO Soft Eye Liner or Magic Eye Liner would work well here). Draw a thick line along the upper lash line and a thinner one along the lower one, and join the two together. Remember you don’t need to be too precise.

3. Now, with your chosen eyeshadow shade for the base (may I suggest something a tad understated for the office – i.e. Matt Rosy Starling no. 584), draw a line along the lid to the natural crease, and smudge under the lower lashes. This will help you to achieve an evenly blended effect.

4. Use a darker eyeshadow shade (i.e. Western Opera no. 280) to create a smoky accent. Blend with a brush.

5. Finish off with a healthy dose of mascara.

The Perfect Pout: wine-stained saturation

Whether embracing red, orange or purple on your lips this fall there are three things you need to remember when creating a flawless statement lip: 1. Moisturize, 2. Moisturize and 3. Moisturize!

This fall, the wine-stained pout – simple or saturated – is a great transition look. A huge trend on the fall 2013 runways, designers such as Vera Wang, Louis Vuitton and Derek Lam have all taken this simple, gothic, no-fuss trend and made it a fall must have look.

Unlike a solid bold lip, the trick here is in the blotting and perfectly matched liner.

Another tip, for extra longevity and to really get into all of the creases, apply colour with a lip brush in between blots.

The beauty of this look is that is doesn’t have to be perfect, actually the imperfection and slight creasing is part of its appeal. And, you don’t have to feel limited with colour either, as you can create this look with ruby, wine or mauve shades – choosing the colour that is right for you and your skin tone.

When planning the perfect eye makeup to accompany this bold and beautiful lip look, aim for a simple statement eye (i.e. the always popular classic cat eye – which deserves a how-to post all on its own) or a simple, healthy dose of mascara.

I love both looks! I really like doing smokey eyes in different colours than the usual black/grey. That navy/purple smokey eye is gorgeous!
