Guest Post: Katelyn from The Skinny Blonde Girl

Hello all, my name is Katelyn and I’m the owner of The Skinny Blonde Girl here to show you how you can take a Fall outfit from day to night.

October is my absolute favourite month of the year. The temperature is that perfect in-between – not too hot and not too cold. Jewel tones and other warm colours start popping back up in stores, sweaters are a little more snuggly, and layers return!

The arrival of colder weather, however, seems to leave a lot of people forgetting how to transition their outfits from work to play. Going from day to night is incredibly easy in the summer, since you can literally toss a blazer over a sundress for work and peel it off come evening.

Fall can be a tiny bit trickier, but that’s no reason to meet your friends for an after work drink wearing suit pants, a suit jacket, and an overly conservative pea coat! Layers are comfortable, stylish, and offer you the ability to quickly change up your outfit without ever having to climb into a change room. So use them!

I’ve broken down a simple day-to-night outfit for fall below, and hope it gives you a little inspiration to start getting creative with your wardrobe choices. Look polished and professional for work, but also be able to look smoking hot for happy hour without having to head home first to change.

The daytime outfit calls for a printed cigarette pant, coloured top, patent leather heel, and a basic black blazer. I also added a simple black scarf to the outfit since it’s fall and some offices aren’t as warm as others! It’s polished, chic, and very professional.
The nighttime outfit uses the same trousers, tank, and shoes. I dropped the blazer, switched out the scarf for a statement necklace, added a cocktail ring, and threw in a gold and black clutch. In this little number you’d be set for a date, drink with friends, or just about anything else. No one will ever know you came straight from the office!
Which look do you prefer – daytime or nighttime? You can shop items from both looks over on Polyvore and make sure to come stop by my blog,
The Skinny Blonde Girl and say hello!
