Grunge was mainstream by the mid 90’s and albums like Nirvana’s Nevermind, Pearl Jam’s Ten, Soundgarden’s Superunknown and Smashing Pumpkins’ Siamese Dream were consistently playing in my CD player. I may have burned out a few of these records. I love that the artists like Kurt Cobain, Billy Corgan and Chris Cornell quickly conveyed a message to the “polite” society types, that you don’t need to give a damn to look stylish.
I’m not going to lie, I’m loving that the 90’s trends are back in full force. Breakout the baby-doll dresses, velvet chokers, black nail polish, red lips, plaid shirts and of course, your Dr. Martens. These are the one pair of shoes that have no rules. Wear them with whatever you like and style them however you like. Take inspiration from the grunge chic look and preppy Clueless style to re-create your own version of this oh-so- famous era.
