My stay at the Shangri-La Hotel Toronto

Winter Wonderland Suite

Winter Wonderland Suite

Derek and I decided to get away for the weekend by heading to the big city of Toronto. We stayed at the lovely Shangri-La Hotel Toronto, which is conveniently located in the heart of the city and walking distance to Eaton Centre, CN Tower and even the Financial District. Its main entrance is located on Simcoe St, right between Richmond St and Adelaide, which is accessible by all public transit and highways. Although the hotel is located directly downtown, being that it was the dead of winter, we knew we just wanted to stay in and take advantage of the beautiful view and amenities. Not only does the hotel offer a spectacular view, it’s the perfect spot to have drinks in the lobby before enjoying a delicious meal at their signature restaurant, Bosk. Another option would be to have a leisurely afternoon over high tea or relaxing by their world-famous pool. The Winter Wonderland Suite is the perfect festive and cozy space to extend your hoidays.

We stayed in their oh-so charming and fabulous  that was transformed by the design team at House & Home magazine. I literally have no words to describe how breathtaking this suite really was, everything from holiday accents including wreaths, a 9 foot Christmas tree, pine cones, faux fur throws, plush festive pillows done in rich browns, icy blues and crisp whites, the attention to detail was incredible. There was even a chic wicker chair hanging from the ceiling that gave the room a quirky and unexpected touch. Not going to lie, I may have spent more than a few hours swinging from it. There’s a total of over 800 square feet of living space, floor-to-ceiling windows to provide a ton of natural light, alongside a large private patio just off the bedroom and living area (yes, that’s correct), you have two large doors taking you outside to overlook central downtown. Even though it was a little chilly outside, Derek and I still took advantage of the skyline view of both the city and the CN Tower. The bistro set is the perfect place for a nightcap or even a morning coffee, while enjoying the greenery that you normally don’t get in the city. We were also able to catch the deep hues of the sunset, before heading to dinner. The outside has the same luxe feel as the inside, the details were just incredible. If that doesn’t have you sold on this suite, just let the pictures do the talking.

After drinks in the lobby, a 5 star, 5 course meal at Bosk, Derek and I were eager to get back to our room, slip into the most plush and luxe slippers and robes that have ever been on my body, enjoy a piping hot and ultra-creamy hot chocolate while watching Netflix. Then what felt like I slept for a hundred years, thanks to the most perfect deluxe, oversize bed (fit for a Queen and her King) we woke up to breakfast in bed. Although we didn’t want to leave our silky, warm sheets, we quickly got dressed and were ready to take in some of the amazing amenities and facilities the hotel had to offer.

We headed down to the 5th floor, to revitalize and rejuvenate in a tranquil oasis. We took a refreshing dip in the 64-foot pool, warmed up our bodies in the infra-red sauna, hydrated our skin in the steam room and then soaked our tired bodies in the Jacuzzi. We finished off our stay relaxing in our own private cabana that featured a built-in television and the perfect view of the pool. I swear you would have thought you were at a tropical resort in the Caribbean thanks to all the natural light and heated room. It felt incredible on a cold Sunday morning and the cascading water features contemporary chandeliers above that I could have stared at all day.

Derek and I felt right at home, chevron wood floors, floor to ceiling marble in the master bathroom, large soaker tub, walk-in closet, I swear, this suite is almost move-in ready. I promise you, you won’t want to leave. The staff was extremely helpful, the attention to detail was outstanding, and our entire day was above and beyond anything we’ve ever experienced in the past.
