Which Floral Dress is Right For You?
Which floral dress is right for you? Obviously, there are so many styles, cuts, prints and patterns to choose from, it can be a little overwhelming at times. You first need to decide on the type of floral dress you want. Fit and flare, maxi, midi, cut-out or classic, etc? Then you can focus on the size of floral print you want. Something bold and bright or understated and subtle? Colour also has a huge play in picking a floral dress that you’re continue to wear day after day. Just remember to pick a colour and style that fits your unique style.
Let’s start with the most classic, the fit and flare. It’s the perfect dress when you’re looking for a more conservative look, thanks to its slightly higher neckline and the flare hem. Rock it for brunch with the girls or even a backyard wedding or special event. It’s both fun and flirty, without being too sexy. You can also toss on a thin belt to emphasis your waist a little more, or pair it with heels for added leg length. To make it a little more casual, you can toss on a simple white button-down blouse. This not only gives it a preppy vibe but makes the outfit totally unique and special.
I don’t think we can talk about summer florals, without mentioning the maxi dress. Whether you’re attending a beach party, a garden wedding or a romantic dinner date, a floral maxi can be worn so many ways. It’s easy, breezy and flowy. It’s extremely figure flattering on an array of different body types, as it isn’t too tight, and it really helps to elongate the body. You can add heels for extra height, or if the dress is floor length, you can totally go for comfort with flats and no one will ever know. Of course, you can always dress it down with a denim jacket or even a chic bomber for a little more edge.
Midi-dresses have been incredibly popular these past few seasons, and with good reason. A sleek midi bodycon dress is the best of both worlds. It creates that sex appeal cause it’s slightly tighter than other styles, yet the length keeps it modern and sophisticated. Because there is a lot of print going on with a longer dress length, keep your accessories subtle and underrated. The idea is to have the dress the main focus and the jewellery pieces are just icing on the cake. A nude pump will help create the illusion of a longer, thinner silhouette. If you want to make it more weekend appropriate, toss a dark t-shirt (to hide the print underneath) and belt. Now it looks like you’re wearing a tee and skirt, instead of a dress.
If you’re looking to be a little more daring or have fun with trends, try a cut-out floral dress. This is perfect for evenings or when you’re looking to be a little more playful. You could have the cut-out at the neck, the waistline, the sides, even a sexy open back detail, the choice is yours. Again, keep the shoes neutral and playdown the accessories to make the dress the focal point. It’s an excellent way to have fun with interesting details. Going out for cocktails with the gals, toss on your favourite black moto jacket and matching black booties to give it a real rock n’ roll vibe.
