How To Look Cute At Home, Without Compromising Comfort
Let’s be honest, for the past 12 months, most of us have been reaching for pjs, sweats and leggings. Since the majority of us, have nowhere to go, we haven’t really felt the need to look cute. It’s officially been a year since the pandemic hit, and I don’t know about you, but I need to start feeling human again. The big question is, can you avoid looking frumpy while still prioritizing comfort? Can you look put together at home, without feeling silly? Of course, you can. I genuinely believe, when you look good, you feel good. I know some might say it’s superficial, but I feel more confident and productive when I’m looking cute.
My first tip is to have a quick shower and wash your hair and face. Easier said than done sometimes. I know we can slip into a lazy routine, with nowhere to go and no one to see, but taking an extra few minutes for yourself in the morning is a sure way to leave you feeling refreshed and cute throughout the entire day. If you’re feeling adventurous, a little makeup can go a long way. I’m not saying you have to do a full-face, or spend hours in front of the mirror, but a little mascara can help curl the lashes for a wideawake effect and a little lip gloss or colour on the lips can create the illusion of fuller, more plump lips.
Everyone is always talking about the freshmen 15, but can we take a moment to talk about the covid 15? I have no shame in admitting I’ve put on a few extra pounds this year. I say eat/ drink whatever is going to get you through the day. Maybe that’s an extra cupcake for dinner, or that extra glass (bottle) of wine, if it makes you happy, enjoy it. I know oversized, almost dad-inspired clothing, has been incredibly popular these past few seasons, maybe due to the fact we’re “trying” to hide that extra food baby, but not all baggy and loose fitting clothing works for everyone. Opting for clothes that hug your natural curves and show-off assets you love, will actually help balance your beautiful figure, rather than hiding it. Play up those areas you love, accentuate your gorgeous curves and I promise you; you’ll feel cuter.
Although this is one I need to work on, exercising will make you feel good, and help you become healthier. It will help with blood circulation and boost your endorphins, leaving you more energized and ambitious. Overtime, it will help improve posture, which automatically makes you look taller and leaner. I know a lot of us are missing the gym, but that shouldn’t deter you from getting your body moving. You can easily find videos on YouTube or social media, and usually for free.
Another place we’re missing, our nail salons. There’s something about having a fresh mani that just leaves you feeling polished, no pun intended. You can easily give your nails a few coats of your favourite nail polish, it doesn’t have to be anything special or fancy, as long as the majority of the colour gets on your nails, you’re good to go. Try to shape them, trim the cuticles and make sure both your nailbed and underneath are clean. If you’re not into fancy colours, a simple clear coat or even a solid nude can make the world of a difference.
Don’t forget your water. As much as you want to reach for that extra cup of coffee, that extra can of Coke or even a second glass of wine, make sure you balance it with H20. Getting enough water will make your skin look plumper, your complexion more radiant and just leaves you feeling with more energy.
