L’Oreal La Palette Nude by Colour Riche Nude 2 Review

Dare to go nude

I’ve been patiently waiting for the new L’Oreal La Palette Nude by Colour Riche Nudes to hit Canada, what seems like forever. Every time I saw a picture of it on social media from my American friends, I wished I lived in the States so I could get my hands on it sooner. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the 2 palettes, the main concern being price. Considering L’Oreal owns Urban Decay, and these palettes are less than half the price of the Naked Palettes, I think the price is fairly decent. It comes in two different shade selections, the Nude 1 and Nude 2, which both effortlessly allow you to be the artist and create and discover 1001 ways to wear nudes this season.

Since I don’t own the Urban Decay Naked 3, I wanted to first test out the L’Oreal La Palette Nude by Colour Riche Nude 2, as it’s filled with the same rose gold shades, before purchasing the Nude 1. It was inspired by makeup designers’ top palettes and offers everything you need to master the art of the perfect neutral eye. It features 10 nude tones ranging from light to dark with an array of shimmery satin, buttery matte and lustrous sheen finishes.

L’Oreal La Palette Nude by Colour Riche Nude 2 comes in a sleek, matte black palette with a full size mirror on the inside lid. It comes with a professional dual-ended brush for easy and effortlessly application. It also offers a step-by-step guide on the back that features 4 unique and trendy eye looks you can achieve with the shadows within. It contains a beautiful array of medium to deep tones from taupe, mauve, to plum, that are all extremely buttery soft, smooth and extremely pigmented. It’s creamy and silky consistency applies and blends effortlessly into the skin. It offers true opaque coverage in a single swipe or two. A few of the shades did have a little fallout, mostly the mattes, but once applied to the lid, it stays put. When paired with a primer, you can expect these shadows to stay in place for 8+ hours without budging or disappearing.

Although I love the idea of palettes that contain a brush within, I never find myself reaching for them. The L’Oreal La Palette Nude by Colour Riche Nude 2 is no exception, sure it may come in handy for travels, but besides that, it just doesn’t pack on enough colour for my liking. Although the brush has incredible soft bristles, it’s not dense enough to pick up and apply the shadow. It would make an excellent blending brush though, same goes for the sponge-tip applicator, and does anyone ever really use these? Since I don’t own the Naked 3, this is an excellent option for me. It contains all the beautiful rose golds and colour coordinating rose gold shades that the Urban Decay one does, without the expensive price tag.

The L’Oreal La Palette Nude by Colour Riche Nude 2 contains a shimmery light rosy pink, shimmery rose, matte rose brown, matte taupe brown, matte gray, matte chocolate, shimmery rosewood, matte pink, matte burgundy and matte eggplant that help you naturally create a large selection of nude eye looks. My favourite shades would have to be the matte purples, which are usually pretty difficult to work with. Although not entirely creamy, they’re not chalky or stiff in any way and are extremely easy to apply and blend into the other shades. I find I keep reaching for these 2 shades, as I can create endless amounts of bold and lively looks that are still wearable for every day. I actually found all the shades to be quite vibrant and pigmented, for a drugstore shadow, and when worn over a primer, stay put the entire day without fading or creasing.

I’ve fallen head over heels with the L’Oreal La Palette Nude by Colour Riche Nude 2 and now I must get my hands on the Nude 1. If you love rose gold as much as I do, the Nude 2 is absolutely beautiful. If you were a little hesitant on dropping $64 on UD, or if you’re not a fan of chunky glitter and metallic finishes, this is an excellent option for you. It retails for $29.99.

It looks more purple than the Naked 3(which I own and LOVE, and find it more brown than pink). Will have to pick this up at some point, I’m kinda over Urban Decay and all the shimmer.

I purchased both of these palettes but haven’t had the chance to use them yet :(
I’m on Accutane and is dried out my skin so bad that I haven’t been able to wear makeup. I’m collecting things to use once my Accutane journey is over!
