The wait is finally over, The Lancôme Show by Alber Elbaz Collection is finally here, well tomorrow it will be. The talented Alber Elbaz who loves to draw, maybe influenced by his parents, his mother the painter and his father the hair colourist, used to sketch what his teachers were wearing each day at school in a sketchbook and present it to them at the end of the year when he was only 7, so you see he was born to create fabulous things.
Elbaz brought his signature whimsy styles and his art of dressing into creating a limited-edition makeup collection he designed in collaboration with Lancôme. The Lancôme Show by Alber Elbaz collection focuses on the eyes and features mascaras, eye shadow palettes, and the long awaited, coveted, lashes. “Once I was in a fancy place where there was this group of people that were all shining. The shoes were shining, the hair was shining, the skin, watches and diamonds-but the eyes were not shining. I thought if I were to do a project I would love to do a ‘happy eye’ project to make the eyes shine.”
On Wednesday, I had the honors of attending a private Lancôme dinner in Toronto with some other very talented beauty bloggers to learn all about the new collection and get a sneak peak at it before it’s released to the public; how special do I feel? Not only did we get a first glance at the collection but we were sent home with 3 out of the 11 pieces to review/ show to our followers. Although the entire collection is amazing, I got pretty excited about our very own Lancôme Show by Alber Elbaz coffee table book (with pop-ups) and “The Little Black Bottle: Twenty Artists One Icon” book which only 2500 copies are made. I’m a huge fan of coffee table books and they beauties already found a perfect home.
Not only did a get to spend time with some amazing bloggers and learn about the new Lancôme collection, I got to enjoy a super yummy dinner and wine and have some fun in the Lancôme photo-booth.
“I wanted to do something personal and kind of funny—but also totally serious. Which is exactly what makeup is” says Elbaz.
Four of Lancôme’s iconic mascaras have been each “dressed” in a unique design created by Elbaz; Hypnôse Doll Lashes ($32), for that wide-eye, volumunized look is now covered with black and red hearts, Hypnôse Star ($34), for intense volume, is now covered with black and blue stars, Hypnôse Drama ($32), for intense full body, is now covered with black and purple polka dots and finally Hypnôse ($32), for custom volume is covered with black and green blinking lashes. “There’s something almost naive and childish about the packaging, but I thought, maybe if it’s like a fairy tale, we’ll all have a happy ending!” says Elbaz.
Three new Hypnôse 5 Colour Palettes ($56) come in a sleek mirrored compact with two applicators inside and are designed around the mascaras. These shadows can be used either wet or dry, are blendable and last all day. Hypnôse Doll uses fresh and natural shades to create that wide-eyed look, Hypnôse Star uses sophisticated shades to create an elegant eye and Hypnôse Drama uses sultry and smoky shades to create a smoky eye.
Three new high luminosity eyeshadows are also added to the collection and pair perfectly with each palette. Whether you choose a sheer wash of colour or a daring, dramatic look, these will always be crease resistant and deliver a smooth, even, buildable look every time. You have your pick from Ombre Hypnôse Doll Eyes, Ombre Hypnôse Star Eyes and Ombre Hypnose Drama Eyes and retail for $34 each.
And now onto the most exciting part of the collection for me, although I know I’ll never be able to bring myself to wear them……. Lancôme’s first ever, False Eye Lashes. Let’s all just take a minute to appreciate them, are you looking at this stunning, collectable Alber Elbaz customized box these beauties are housed in? These lashes are completely wearable, lightweight and even come with their own glue. If you get your hands on them (for only $35), are you going to wear them……. or are you going to showcase them?
The Lancôme Show by Alber Elbaz Collection is available starting tomorrow, June 15, 2013 worldwide. In Canada you’ll be able to pick it up at Sephora, Holts, Shoppers Drug Mart, Lancome.ca and The Bay (which will also be the only place to pick up the False Lashes).
Here’s the reset of the collection with pictures, get your shopping list ready, these are going to sell-out fast!
Oooh I need those lashes, I’m like you, I wont wear them, but it would be cute on my dresser in my bedroom, look the design of them. Do you think I’ll be able to get them if I wait to mid-afternoon?
I’m a sucker for packaging, so I’ll be running out tomorrow to get a few goodies, how did I not know about this collection and how cool that you got 2 new coffee table books on Lancome
Ooh gosh, me too, wish is why I doubt I’ll even use them
I usually love sleek packaging but this collection is too cute to pass up!
